Why we exist

Why AI Has Your Back

Technology is getting more powerful. We want more of that power to reach the people who could actually use it.

The thinking

The gap this is about.

AI Has Your Back is about using AI to reduce the gap between those who have access to capability and those who don't. That plays out in three parts.

The problem

Sophisticated organisations have always had the advantage: specialists, systems, lawyers, consultants, data, processes and time. Ordinary people often meet those systems once, when something has already gone wrong, with none of that behind them.

The opportunity

AI dramatically lowers the cost of understanding information, organising it, asking better questions, drafting something, navigating a process and reaching capabilities that used to need specialist help. That is exactly the sort of help most people have never been able to afford.

The boundary

AI isn't a lawyer, a doctor, a SEND professional or a substitute for human judgement. Having your back means helping someone become better informed, better organised and better able to act. It never means pretending an AI system should make the important decision for them.

Who's behind it

Built by Sarah Wood and Creative Sauce AI.

Before working in technology, Sarah worked in sales and later in infrastructure, including as part of a core team building a new business inside a major global company, designing and implementing some of the processes and infrastructure it needed to operate.

That was followed by around 15 years in web development and digital systems, and then increasingly deep work with AI as the technology developed. That combination shapes this project.

AI needs substance underneath it. Understanding technology is useful. Understanding the businesses, processes and people it has to work around matters just as much.

How we work

How we produce the guides.

These guides deal with rights, money, education and other consequential decisions, so we hold them to a standard.

Official sources first

For anything involving rights, government processes or money, we start from primary, authoritative material and cite it.

Checked and dated

Every consequential guide carries a "checked" date. Out-of-date information is a liability here, so we revisit it.

Clear about jurisdiction

England is not the same as the UK. We say which one a guide applies to, especially for housing, SEND and consumer matters.

AI helps us work, it isn't the source

We use AI to help research and draft. We do not treat what it produces as the authority. The authority is the primary source.

Clear boundaries

Information and practical help where that is appropriate, and professional advice where professional advice is what you actually need.

Kept low cost, on purpose

Good help in these areas is usually expensive. Removing that barrier is the whole point, so we keep this deliberately low cost.
